The longer you stay, the longer you…

The longer you stay, the longer you…

My physician friend used to say that about her residency, “The longer you stay, the longer you stay.” This was in the days before there was a mandatory reduction of hours for residents, back when they might just keep working around the clock. Do you really want a...

Pregnancy, parenting and letting go

Pregnancy, parenting and letting go

Elias, my oldest son, is going to college. At the end of the summer, we’ll load up the car with new blankets and dorm gear, and drive him to school. Luckily, it’s close by, and while that is good for him and us, it’s going to be a huge change that will take some...

Dull + Stressful = :-(

Dull + Stressful = 🙁

Dull and stressful. This is the combination I often hear from women lawyers.  It’s a formula that keeps them feeling stuck and unhappy.Does this resonate?

What I think about the word “try”

What I think about the word “try”

The word try can feel like I’ve given myself an escape hatch in case I don’t succeed.I do mostly agree with Yoda when he said, “There is no try, there is do or do not.”And yet, for others I honor “try” as an important step forward.

What if …

What if …

What if you stop thinking you have to do it all on your own?Allow yourself to receive the love, support, structure and a proven process to help you?

Instead of that, try this.

Instead of that, try this.

Because resistance is like walking in tar.  Our feet get stuck.  Progress slows to a halt. What does resistance feel like for you?

The time will pass anyway (with or without you)

I joined Denise Duffield Thomas’ Money Boot Camp back in 2014. It’s been amazing to see her career grow and prosper.  In fact, she has a new book coming out called Chill and Prosper (check it out!)  She now holds monthly calls via her private Facebook group for her...

Commencement: Grief and Joy

Commencement: Grief and Joy

I was thinking about how the word commencement means to begin, yet commencement is celebrated at the end.

It reminds me of the quote from the late organizational psychologist William Bridges, “Something must end, before something new can begin.“

There is grief in the endings, even when something good is beginning.

I’m curious what you think…

I’m curious what you think…

“There are two kinds of people in this world, those who change and those who think about it and don’t do anything.”

When is it going to be your time?

When is it going to be your time?

When is it going to be your time? After you help your husband find and settle into his new job? After the kids begin their camp/program/new school year? After you reach that money milestone or pay off your loans? When are you going to put yourself first? And what is it costing you not to?

My promise to you.

My promise to you.

Sometimes, I hear this from a WILL member who needs a little extra love and support:“Thank you for not giving up on me.“This is true even if you haven’t stepped into WILL yet.
