Many of the women who come to WILL struggle with anxiety.

Does this ring true for you too?

These are things I hear often.

“I wake up in the middle of the night with a jolt – thinking I missed something or made a mistake.”

“My mind is racing.  I spiral into a worst-case scenario that ends up with me fired, disgraced and homeless.”

“I can barely get through a workout or even a manicure without checking my email.  I am anxious and on edge, feeling that I need to respond immediately.”

Just writing these makes my heart race.  What impact is this having on your body?

Let’s take a deep breath.

Hands on heart and repeat this phrase from Mel Robbins after me…

“I am okay.  I am safe.  I am loved.”

One of the first things new Members receive in WILL is a Relief Now Toolkit.

In it, there are lessons on boundary setting and reducing anxiety to regain calm.

Here are three steps to reduce your anxiety…

(This is surprisingly counterintuitive…but read on!)

First of all – what is anxiety?

Anxiety is your body’s physiological reaction to perceived danger.   It is not a personal failure.

Imagine you ate some bad shellfish.  And then your body responds by getting sick and ridding the toxins from your system.

Would you think there’s something wrong with you for getting sick?  (Maybe you’d think twice before ordering the mussels again, but you probably wouldn’t blame yourself.  Right?)

Same for anxiety.

It’s your body operating from the old lizard brain of fight-flight-freeze.

Here are three steps you can take to reduce anxiety:

  1. Thank your body for the anxiety.  Remember, it’s flagging danger (even if the form of danger comes in an email from a partner or client).
  2. Say… “Part of me is anxous.  Not all of me.  Thank you, anxiety for pointing out the danger.
  3. Then breathe into it.  Feel the anxiety.  And let it dissolve.  (This part is simple, but not always easy.  It may take 60-90 seconds and be uncomfortable. Hang in and breathe.)

Want to learn more on how to reduce anxiety, create boundaries and create a life where you aren’t waking up in the middle of the night with a jolt?

It’s hard to leave big law on your own.

It’s so much easier to make these changes with structure, support and alongside other smart, kind and uplifting women lawyers also on their journey.

That’s what you get in WILL – an easier, proven path where you break the isolation.

If you want to root out the causes of your anxiety, book a 1:1 consultation with me here.

Become calm, clear on your next steps and able to enjoy your yoga class or mani-pedi without interruption (from your own brain or anyone else!).

Sounds fun, right?

It is.

Leaving (big) law can be easier and more fun than you can currently imagine.
