A friend texted me last week that she couldn’t use tickets to see Allison Russell, did I want them?
I did not know Allison Russell before then. Something inside me quickly said “Yes!”
Last night I was lucky enough to see, hear and experience her.
Allison Russell is Canadian, Scottish, Black, queer and has put out an incredibly beautiful album Outside Child that is Grammy nominated.
During the show I grabbed a journal and scribbled something she said:
“We are all descendants of women and men who survived harder times in these. Resilience runs through our veins. Resilience is our birthright.”
She also quoted Alice Walker…
“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. The time is now.“
Given everything that is going on in the world, take a moment to pause today and think about your ancestors, and all that they did to survive.
Your chances of becoming a living breathing human born at this time are one in 400 trillion.
It’s a mind-boggling number.
On this International Women’s Day I invite you to acknowledge your ancestors and your wiring for survival…
ability to rebound,
uplift, and
continue.
Because you know who else is a woman to watch… YOU!
This does not diminish whatever you are going through right now.
Life is tough and I invite you to give yourself tremendous self-compassion.
AND remember who you are.
You are a badass.
You are smart as hell.
You are here to do and be more, or else you probably wouldn’t be reading this.
Even if we’ve never met, I believe in you.
Because I believe that women lawyers have the power to change the fucking world.
I ranted more about this in our free Facebook group. Head over there to catch the whole thing.
What if you are the one you’ve been waiting for?
The time is now.
If you are ready to book a call and create a life and career in a whole new way…
We are here.
Alive.
Ready.
Now.
Heck no… let’s sing, shout, cry and change the f*n world.
Enjoy this video of Allison Russell performing on Kimmel, Backed up by Brittany Spencer. And another favorite of mine, Brandi Carlile.
