Many people know I pick a word for their year.

A single word to focus their intention. A touchstone.

Last year I couldn’t decide on just one, so I picked two. (Hey, I’m a Gemini). They were…
Ground and Grow.

This year, I’m keeping it to one.

Act.

I’m not talking about pretending. Or auditioning for Hamlet.

But taking action.

Now, I have to be honest with you, getting things done is not my strongest suit. I’m an idea generator and strategic thinker. I love connecting with other humans, listening, and sharing my naturally positive perspective.

In the StrengthsFinder assessment, I have zero top strengths in the executing quadrant.

But hey. I’ve got big dreams and ideas. And to bring them to reality and be able to serve my clients, I’ve got to take action!

Plus, I want to act for good in my community, city, and country. That means being vocal and not sitting on the sidelines.

So, Act it is. It goes nicely with some of my favorite other words:

Act with courage.
Act with compassion.
Act with curiosity.

What’s your word for this new year going to be?
